Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented any Messiah performance in 2020,
our 83rd year.

We hope that our next full
Messiah performance
will take place on
Saturday 27th March 2021.

Bedford Messiah Choir has been performing Handel's Messiah in Bedford every year since 1937, apart from a short break during the war years. In fine ecumenical spirit, choristers from local churches of many different denominations, together with other local singers, combine resources to rehearse for four weeks and then perform this great work in Bedford at the start of the Advent season.

Over the years we have performed with many different soloists, often local, and often at the threshold of their musical careers, and it is of great interest for us to watch their careers progress and their national and international reputations grow.

The very first performance of Messiah in Dublin was in aid of charity, and this is a tradition which we are proud and privileged to continue. Each year the committee selects a different local charity, and in recent years, thanks particularly to local sponsorship and loyal audiences, we have been able to present well over £1,000 to our chosen charity.

The members of the Bedford Messiah Choir, and the respective recipient charities, are deeply indebted to the following organisations for their sustained commitment and support over many years: Bunyan Meeting Church and Woodfines Solicitors. We are also very grateful to The Rotary Club of Bedford Park, who supported us for the first time in 2016-2017.
